Welcome to the Colorado Disability Opportunity Office

What is the Colorado Disability Opportunity Office?

The Colorado Disability Opportunity Office (CDOO) is the point of contact for state agencies, private sector organizations, and the public to advance the integration and inclusion of the disability community. CDOO sits at the intersection of policy development and implementation, and HB 24-1360 ensures that CDOO leadership continues to advise the Governor and his team on disability, ensure cross-agency collaboration, and provide funding through the CDFC to disability organizations and businesses.

Starting on June 3, 2024, CDOO is also home to the Colorado Disability Funding Committee. CDFC’s mission is to maximize support for new and innovative programs benefiting Colorado's disability community by raising and distributing funds as authorized by the Laura Hershey Disability Support Act.

Vision

We envision a Colorado where people with disabilities are included, and our inherent value is recognized and respected.

Mission

Our mission is to ensure that individuals with disabilities have the tools, opportunities, and empowerment to reach their highest potential and thrive in our communities.

What is Opportunity?

The dictionary defines Opportunity as:

op·por·tu·ni·ty
/ˌäpərˈto͞onədē/ noun, a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something.

Here at the Colorado Disability Opportunity Office, we believe opportunity is a community, and opportunity cannot happen for us without us. Opportunity for housing, healthcare, employment, access, and integration into all aspects of culture and society. This office is the glue that puts all the pieces together and is a resource in practice and policy to ensure disability becomes inherently valued and respected in our community.
